The time is NOW!!

Coors Field would be a great place for Mac to get called up.

I guess the biggest thing is that Mac seems to have gotten it BACK. And last season before the beaning, he was a completely different hitter, one that had us all extremely excited and seemingly with very good reason. When Mac was beaned, he already has three home runs and six RBI's in five games, batting .316. In 75 at bats after the hit by pitch, he hit just one homer and then continued to struggle even in AAA.
If he's truly got it back -- and with six homed runs and a .393 average in his past 10 games, it certainly looks like he has -- this is the best news so far this season. Easily the best news.

The Giants are also promoting second baseman Donovan Solano, who hit pretty well in the spring and perhaps pitcher Williams Jerez, so two or three guys have to go. Gerber seems likely, and maybe Solarte. The switch pitchers likely switches back to the minors. Fresh guys are clearly getting their chances.

The Rockies' pitchers the next two nights aren't overly imposing, and while Thursday's starter southpaw Kyle Freeland was excellent last season, Freeland has struggled to a 5.90 ERA so far in 2019. With Mac clearly hot, the timing for success seems about as good as it could be.

Rog, I do not recall Mac getting hit in the head.
What are you referring to when you say he was "beaned?"

I guess I made a mistake here. I was confusing the concussions to Panik and Belt with Mac's. I guess he got his when he tripped over the mound and hit the left field wall, right? At any rate, the injury destroyed what had previously been a heck of a breakout season between Sacramento and SF.

Oh, it's not an it that he got back, what he got back with his vision.
If you read his comments he said his vision was blurred up until September.
Which means that his concussion was worse than anyone imagined.

The amazing thing is that Mac homered later in the same game during which he suffered the concussion -- and then didn't play for a month.
What I think we're seeing from Mac, from Joe Panik and from Don Wert is that it is possible to be able to hit during some period AFTER the concussion is suffered, but then have the effects of the concussion kick into effect (or back into effect) later.
A note on the players the Giants have brought up recently: They're not especially young. Stephen Vogt is 34; Donovan Solano is 31; Mac is 28; and Williams Jerez is 27. But they're DIFFERENT, and they bring a little hope.

I'm just guessing, but the concussion symptoms seem to really show up a day or a few days after the concussion occurs.
Mac is not the first one I've seen in this boat in the last 5 years or so.

Jake Peavy has officially retired. I don't know what's going on with Tim Lincecum, if anything. His dad has been horribly down in the dumps since Tim's older brother passed away 15 months ago and told me things haven't really gotten better for him since then.
A real shame. Chris felt that Sean had similar ability to Tim until Sean hurt his throwing shoulder twice playing Tim delivered my Christmas card to Tim, his dad and Sean, who got his name indirectly from the John Wayne character Shane.

One of the three homers Mac hit was estimated at ... 511 feet!
