The last guy I was holding out keeping from the glory days was Crawford because I think a strong defensive SS is a necessary part of any good team. But now he's kicking everything in sight. Blow it up!

Brandon's defense began to decline in 2017 after he was extremely good up until that point. But he has a full no-trade contract, and as a life-long Giants fan who is loved in the Bay Area, he may not be motivated to waive it.
Looking back with 20/20 hindsight, the time to have traded guys was after the 2016 season. Some here thought that team was the best in SF history, but it fell apart badly the second half of the season and blew a three-run lead to fall out of the playoffs, which they barely held on to make.
While some of us here favored rebuilding after the 2017 season, I don't recall any of us being prescient enough to suggest it a year earlier, which would have been the correct time. We were too caught up in the great start they got off to that year, but if one looked closely, they had game after game where the heroes were Four A players, and that simply wasn't going to continue.
For those here who like Alen Hanson, he was DFA's by the Blue Jays to make room for another former Giants, Derek Law. Law has a chance, as was mentioned when the Giants lost him. Derek had posted a 1.69 ERA in AAA this season, striking out 17 and walking only three in 10.2 innings. Of course the Giants themselves have flourished with their bullpen, including having some guys in the minor leagues who are on the way.

The God awful 2 base dropped pop fly was absolutely horrific. Both Panik and Crawford just glided back instead of hustling like they are paid to do. Pillar just stopped...3 people with a great chance to make the play just absolutely tanked it...unforgivable.

Apparently Madison Bumgarner has a partial no-trade clause in which he has refused eight teams. No one public is apparently aware of which teams Madison chose -- or even when he had to make the decision. We've already mentioned that with Brandon Belt having something like 12 teams he can block each November, he could have made it quite difficult for the Giants to trade him. Same with Madison -- especially if his choices were recent. No need for rebuilding teams to acquire either, and only the contending teams who need their position need apply. I imagine that while a creative Belt could have made things very difficult, it would be tougher for Madison to eliminate all the possibilities.
There is also the possibility the Giants might trade Madison and still try to re-sign him next winter. Madison will likely command a lot of money though -- although he might ask Dallas Keuchel about that if the Giants make him a qualifying offer, which I suspect they would. It would actually be to Madison's advantage to be traded, since that would eliminate any qualifying offer.
My sense is that the Giants could indeed find a trade for Madison if they wish to, although re-signing him after a trade could be quite expensive. Despite Tyler Beede's horrible outing tonight, I'd have the trade feelers out in a far-reaching manner.

Madison has shown this season that he is still capable of a big outing. But he's also shown that he lacks the stuff to overcome his mistakes and thus is also subject to very poor games.
