The Giants are loaded with young catchers...we're weak in the OF...so what does Fargeek do? Gets another backup catcher. Smart!

Randy, you're showing no vision whatsoever IMO.
Last season Garcia hit .233 in the minors, mostly in AA ball. When he was drafted, his hitting was considered to be ahead of his defense. Does it not dawn on you that Aramis might benefit from more seasoning?

Then why release Rene Rivera? Or why even pick him up if he wasn't the guy they wanted? I am also seeing a lack of vision here, but it's not coming from Randy, it's coming from your hero.

Lack of vision is a good description, boagie.
He also strikes me as a guy who continues to throw darts at a dart board while wearing a blind fold hoping that some of them hit the target.
"I like this guy! No... I like THAT guy better!
No...That one...."

I’m 50/50 on Zaidi. I feel like he was brought in here to improve the farm system and to find an occasional gem like they did in LA while he was there, like Max Muncy and Chris Taylor. This is why I support Zaidi, because that is a long process that will take years and he hasn’t even started yet. Now for the other stuff, he’s done a terrible job this offseason. Now I understand that you don’t want to go out there handing out eight figure contracts willy nilly to a bunch of older players, but if he had 310 million available for Bryce Harper, was there really nobody else out there worth any of that money? Marwin? AJ? Brantley? DJ? Even a cheap signing to help the OF like Avisail Garcia? Was it too confusing to have three A. Garcia’s on the team, with Avisail, Aramis and Anthony? I know the minors aren’t deep in prospects but he couldn’t have spun a reliever to Milwaukee for the likes of Domingo Santana? They traded him for Ben freaking Gamel! Last year they acquired Cutch and Longoria, and while Cutch disappointed and I knew the Longoria contract was an albatross I was excited to get two well respected players and I ran out and got two McCutchen jerseys for me and my son. What player has Zaidi gotten to get us excited? Anybody buying a Conor Joe jersey? So basically my grades for Zaidi are incomplete for the long term success of the team, and an F for the offseason.

Pretty good summation, Mark.
As I said in another thread, he's been all over the map, scooping up garbage looking for that proverbial needle in a hay stack.
Not impressed.

I wasn’t done, you answered too soon, Boly! I saved in the middle because I had to check what garbage Seattle gave up for Santana and I didn’t want to risk losing the whole thing,

Fargeek was brought here for one reason...he's a stats geek. That's what the wife-beating Bear wanted.

Then why release Rene Rivera? Or why even pick him up if he wasn't the guy they wanted? Rog -- I suspect that when the Giants released Rene Rivera the Giants either felt that they were ensured of getting another catcher, or they felt they would rather have Aramis back up Buster than to have Rene do it. As for why they picked Rene up, it was because they felt he gave them added depth and might well turn out to be the best guy to back up Buster. They may also have wanted him in case Buster wasn't able to return to start the season, which was in some degree of question up until recenty. Make sense? Boagie- Wife-beating? They had a little spat. I probably like Baer less than anyone, but that's an unfair label.

I don't know if you saw the footage or not but it seemed like a bit more than a spat to me. Mrs Baer was screaming pretty loud. She was clearly terrified. I'm not saying it's enough for him to be prosecuted but it makes you wonder...if he will do something like this in broad daylight in public...what would he do in the privacy of his home?

MLB is announcing a suspension for Baer today. Predicting it will be half a season.

I did see the footage, I don't see how I couldn't have, it was everywhere. I found it humorous more than anything. It looked to me like a little spat where two people acted foolishly. It reminded me of two kids fighting over a toy. Larry didn't put his hands on his wife, he put his hands on his phone. She overreacted and caused a big scene.
Again, I dont like Larry Baer, I never did. He seems like a smarmy car salesman type. That said, the outrage and his being relieved of his duties isn't because of what he did necessarily. This is San Francisco, and the perception of what happened was blown out of proportion by the liberals. The Giants knew they had to send him packing. You can't even disagree with a woman today and not be seen as an abusive, sexist, rapist.
Honestly, Randy, I'm actually a little surprised at your thoughts on this topic.

MLB should have kept their nose out of it. But again, the liberals are like a lynch mob, you have to appease them or they'll start rioting outside ballparks. This was already handled internally by the Giants. MLB just wanted to earn some liberal brownie points.
