Randy seems to have Dave Flemming, but somehow Dave announced the Japan games for ESPN.
Both Jon Miller and Dave have performed nationally. Duane Kuiper and Mike Krukow haven't, but they are regarded as one of the best local teams in the business.
I struggle to find things to agree with you on, Randy, but I do think you've been a little more fair toward Jeff Samardzija than some. You have credited Jeff for "pounding the zone," something he does seem to deserve credit for. Any idea on how good Jeff might be this year?

Rog- Randy seems to have Dave Flemming

What does being on ESPN make you a great broadcaster? I think you haven't paid close attention

I would venture that most baseball announcers would be quite happy to be able to broadcast for ESPN. Probably pays a lot to begin with. I would say it's one of the more prestigious baseball announcing jobs.
When they said on the broadcast the other night that Dave was away on assignment and that it was really an assignment, I thought it was probably the NCAA tournament. I wasn't expecting Japan, although as mentioned here a year ago, Dave was a finalist for the national game of the week a year ago.

I've heard some not-very-good announcers on ESPN, starting with that female, ex softball player.
Outside of the fact that she's a female, and some think that's important, (not me), she brings nothing to the broadcast.
I've heard other bad ones, too, I just can't remember their names.
For me, Flemming is okay.
He never, ever tries to pretend his a baseball genius.
He calls what he sees as well as he can.
Not great, but certainly far, far from terrible.

You don't listen to the Giants radio broadcasts enough Boly. Phlegm DEFINITELY speaks like he knows more than he does and it's annoying as hell. You're right about ESPN broadcasters. To them it's more important that you are a Democrat than a good broadcaster.

What a great closing line, Randy!
Loved it!
Also, Mendoza, the female ESPN broadcaster I was talking about, is from Camarillo High School. Which is like 4 minutes from my house.
