Watched the video this morning of Chris Shaw's 2nd HR.
Yes, it went a long, long way, but that's not what I was looking at.
I was watching the bat speed through the strike zone.
Much, much improved over last year.
Last year his swing looked long and slow.
On this one, it was sharp, quick, and direct to the ball.
One swing... can't really put a lot into that but I only saw 1 swing all of last year that WASN'T slow.
We'll see.

Even on his first swing before the home run, his increased bat speed was indeed evident. He looked really dialed.
If Chris can learn to make more consistent contact, he has as much pure power as all but a few players in the game. If you still have video of the game, go back and look at that first swing -- the one before the home run. He already looked like a different hitter.

The only video I could find, Rog, is the one in which he banged that monster shot to right.
Down here we're not getting any broadcasts.

Rog -- That is indeed an advantage those of us in the Bay Area have. One suggestion I have is to get the MLB Network, which has quite a few Giants games on TV this spring, often with the feed of the other team. They were saying on TV last night too that the Giants are streaming video with San Jose Giants announcer Joe Rizzo at the helm. Mike Krukow was talking about the good Giants vibe in spring training this year. They don't have a lot else, so I hope the vibe is real and meaningful.
