Hey. It's early and these games mean NOTHING.
But it was interesting to see that Stratton picked up right where he left off last year; getting lit up.
How come other team's pitchers come in ready to pitch, and ours can't?
Like I said, it's early, but you have to admit, my question is a good one.

To be fair most of the runs he gave up were unearned

Didn't see that.
The paper said most of Bum's were earned, and same thing about Stratton

Maybe we're thinking of two different outings. I saw the game against the Angels in Tempe on Saturday. Stratton started but I was watching with the sound down because the Angels announcers are horrible. I assumed you were referring to a later inning in which the Angels scored 5 unearned runs. But Stratton gave up I believe 2 earned runs as a starter in only one inning. I'm never going to cricize ANY pitcher's starts in Spring until we get close to Opening day. I recall the Angels didn't exactly scorch Stratton. There was a ground ball with eyes, a walk and a well-placed looper for a 2 run double. Not a great outing but not something that would concern me. At this stage, pitchers are just getting work in.

I was talking Stratton, Randy.
I really don't care much for spring outings either.
I was merely pointing out 2 things:
1-He's picking up where he left off and..
2-How come OTHER teams have starters doing well and we don't?
It's been the same thing early on these last couple or three springs.
They can, we can't.
And I'd like to know why.

The other teams' pitchers are pitching to the Giants' hitters!

ok so first off, if you didn't care about spring outings you wouldn't make the judgement of Chris "picking up where he left off." You also wouldn't care that "other" teams have pitchers that had a great first outing. Nobody who knows baseball cares AT ALL what happens early in Spring. The example I always use is 2012 Barry Zito...had the WORST ST I've ever seen and then shut out the Rockies in Denver his first regular season outing.
I'll wait till late March.

I don't disagree with you, Randy, I just found it interesting.

Randy- Nobody who knows baseball cares AT ALL what happens early in Spring.
Boagie- Why do we have this discussion EVERY spring? Obviously early spring doesn't decide who makes the team and who doesn't. But I actually pay more attention to early spring because you get a look at the young prospects you've never seen before. By late spring all those guys are gone. But we all know the final score means very little whether it's early or late.
