Zaidi had him with the Dodgers last year and he was pretty good, although he only threw 14 innings. Of course the fun part with him is that he’s a switch pitcher. He has to declare what side he’ll be throwing from before the batter steps in.

His career numbers are not favorable and he's 33 years old. Not a good signing in my opinion.

As I said in another thread, I think it signals another move coming.
Also, since I've had time to think about it since my other thread post...I know how hard it is to stay consistent, to keep that arm slot and release point with ONE arm, it's going to be even more difficult to maintain all of that from 2.
Sure will make his work outs longer as he works both sides.
Zaidi must see something; must know something that his career numbers don't show.
Maybe he made some changes last year and that's why he was successful in is 14 or so innings with LA last year.

Rog -- He was rather good last season, and he's been a very effective LOOGY even when his overall numbers haven't been good. I think Travis Bergen can get out batters of either hand, but at this point I see Venditte as a LOOGY. Small sample, but his splits bear a similarity to Javier Lopez's. Sure will make his work outs longer as he works both sides. Rog -- I liked your analysis in your post above, Boly. Here is one benefit he might be gaining from his "dual" workouts: You like pitchers pitching more innings, and even for a reliever the ability to go further has value. With his dual workouts, Venditte should be working his body -- especially the core -- more without having to overload either arm. Might take him a little longer to warm up though!!!
