Some here would like to see Brandon Belt traded right away, while others would like to see him rebuild his value and be traded when Joey Bart is about to force Buster Posey to first base.
A couple of things will make it more difficult to trade Brandon this winter. The Phillies just placed Justin Bour on waivers, and of a bigger nature, they are shopping Carlos Santana like crazy. The Phils want to move Rhys Hoskins back to first base. He played a detrimental defense in left field in 2018.
Santana is something of a right-handed version of Belt, in that he gets on base a lot and is a very good fielder. Santana has remained healthier, though, hits more home runs, and has both driven in and scored more runs. He's also a switch hitter who has played catcher, third base, left and right fields as well as first base. He's a good enough fielder that he's started 42 games at the hot corner, 16 of them last season.
There was a time when Brandon may have had more trade value than Santana, but I think that time has passed -- at least temporarily.
