Randy, boagie and I want to get younger, but I think we all know, that's not likely to happen.
Sabean has repeatedly said, "the Giants don't re build, we reload."
So I see this going one of 2 ways, and both start with the new GM
1-He brings in the fences and now has a real shot at signing a slugger.
We sign a big bat which now gives the line up credibility and power, assuming Belt and Posey come back healthy.
I also see them giving Mac a legit shot in LF.
They will have a choice, after getting a bat; closer or starter?
I think they'll chose closer, in this scenario, relying heavily on Bum, Suarez and Stratton, and PRAYING that Jeffy comes back whole.
I don't believe he will, but in this scenario, that's my prediction.
2-He doesn't bring in the fences, realizes we can't make trades from a position of strength, therefore he won't, so it'll be mostly the status quo next year.
Thus, nothing in the infield will change.
Nothing.
Duggar will be in CF, Mac will be given a shot in RF and Slater in LF.
That's it.
If this is the scenario chosen, and I think it will be, I predict HE'LL go out and get a top starter in Free Agency, and likely a closer.
Why?
Because he will be pretty sure, as I am pretty sure, that we can build with Rodriguez and Suaez, but we aren't going to win next year with them.
Yeah, I hear you both, boagie and Randy, that's not what you would do.
It's not what I would do, either, but THAT is what I'm predicting.
Remember what Sabean has said; Re tool, not re build.
As the title of this thread says: "We can argue all day long, but..."
What we want them to do, and what they do, are 2 different things.
So now, we just wait.
