Each winter the MLB Network chooses its top 10 players at each position. I think Buster Posey and Brandon Crawford will be the only Giants to make it, although Madison Bumgarner also has a shot.
Posey likely won't rank #1 again, but he should be in the top three or four. Crawford isn't a shoo-in, but he'll likely make the bottom of the shortstop group. Bumgarner has a shot, but his past two seasons haven't equalled the dominance of those that came before it, and he'll likely make the list of "just missed."
Of the trio, only Bumgarner (29) is under 30 even as the league continues to go younger and better. In fact, it is primarily younger pitchers who will finish ahead of Madison.

I now think Madison might just make the top 10, but, man, the pitchers are getting really GOOD.
The Giants say they are going to take their time in naming their GM. That they want to be thorough I think is a good thing. That they could wind up being behind on what could be a crazy winter obviously isn't so good. If the Giants have been doing their homework, they should already have a long list of candidates and should have begun the job of paring it down a while ago.
I say get on with the process. I want it to be thorough, but how long does it take to be thorough. Narrow the field to a half dozen or so, look back to make sure no one is overlooked, and start the interviews. Afer the interviews are over, do some analysis of what you have, and call candidates back for a second time if it appears it would be fruitful.
If the process can't be done by the time the World Series is over, they're taking far too long IMO. Don't hurry, but be quick. Do the Giants really want their new GM to start out behind the eight ball?
