Fan Graphs calls this year's crop of 25-year-olds the best in major league history. Without getting into the details, they make a strong argument for it. They also point out that the top eight players in WAR this season are 24, 25 or 26. As the Giants have found out to their chagrin, the game is getting younger.
Check this out for a list of notable 25-year-olds:
Mookie Betts (.339, 30 home runs, 28 SB) Jose Ramirez (38 homers, 33 SB) Bryce Harper (34 homers, 97 runs, 97 RBI's) Manny Machado (.296, 35 homers) Javier Baez (.294, 33 homers, 107 RBI's) Trevor Story (33 homers, 26 SB, 102 RBI's) Trea Turner (40 SB, 96 runs, 17 homers) Rhys Hoskins (35 homers, 92 RBI's) Gary Sanchez (Missed most of season due to injury, but in three seasons, has the highest home run rate for any catcher ever) Matt Chapman (23 homers, 97 runs, GG 3B?) Noah Syndergaard (12-4, 3.36) Aaron Nola (16-5, 2.44) Blake Snell (20-5, 1.97)
See why Fan Graphs is so impressed? Which other 24-year-olds are you impressed with?
The Giants' significant 25ers are Andrew Suarez (7-11, 4.24), Reyes Moronta (5-2, 2.61) and Alen Hanson (.259). In case you're wondering why he is missing, Dereck Rodriguez (6-4, 2.30) is in his 26-year-old season.
