Renel got called to emcee an event downtown today so Flan was doing PA at the yard today. It sounded great to have a male voice at the mic again. I will NEVER get used to women doing that job...it just sounds wrong to me.
And then Kruk had to go and spoil it by saying "that's a very hard job." WTF??? It's reading names off a roster, dude...it aint rocket science! Even kids off the street can handle it in the 3rd inning.

Not a hard job, and I didn't think Flannery was particularly good at it. He didn't sound particularly confident, which isn't unusual under the circumstances.
I don't like Renel's voice much either, although I'm not sure whether it's because it's a female voice or because it isn't a very good female voice. I believe at this point the latter. Originally, I was simply surprised because it was so different than what I was used to. And not surprised in a good way.
Really bad play by Russell on the ball Hanson beat out. The only thing I can think of with what Mike Krukow called "the tap" was that it might have been a bit trouble getting the ball out of his glove? I was surprised though when he turned clockwise rather than planting and throwing. And Russell is usually a pretty darn good shortstop.
I will say that seeing other shortstops often gives us an even better appreciation for Brandon Crawford, although sometimes I'm surpised by how good some of the plays by other shortstops are. I guess a big part of the equation is making the good plays consistently.
Surprisingly, Brandon hasn't been as good as usual this season on the routine plays. But he's still plenty good -- and his offense is narrowing the gap between the two sides of the ball.

I guess my surprise here is that Russell looked so bad. It does appear he's had a good season overall, but not against the Giants.
