From what I could tell by watching, he should be good to start Opening Day. They were just being uber cautious. He was able to grip the ball right away. He didn't need to shake it or rub it off. He was not in any apparent pain.

He was not in any apparent pain. Rog -- I understand what you're saying, and it's certainly easier to pick up cluees when you already know the result, but here were the signs: . He did attempt to pick the ball up after it hit his hand, but he used his glove hand, which normally wouldn't be the case. . He came out of the game pretty easily for the type of guy he is, not even throwing a single exploratory pitch. . As he came off the field, he was holding his hand in a manner that indicated it was in bad shape. . There was a coach in the dugout who questioned the trainer when the trainer followed Madison into the clubhouse. After hearing the trainer's answer, he just shook his head.
