Over the years I haven't had much opportunity to see Longoria play.
But this spring, I've now had a chance to watch 3 or 4 at bats, and I like what I see; compact, controlled swing that has the bat in the hitting zone a long, long time.
It's a very uncomplicated swing, made up of movements that are relatively easy to duplicate because there is NO big loops, no dips in the back shoulder, and no elbow pointed towards the sky.
Unlike players with complicated swings with lots of moving parts who turn 30 and lose it quickly, Longoria's swing should be solid for a couple of more years.
Duggar is another one whose swing I like.
Slight upper cut, but he starts with a relatively flat bat, is compact, and that bat is in the hitting zone a long time.
Very impressive.
And then I saw the HR yesterday, and that confirmed what I've been seeing.
He should be a good one...IF he has the mental capability to play at this level.
