All that money the Giants were willing to spend on Stanton...I'm willing to bet they will not be spending the same amount for other players. We'll see how happy you guys are that are relieved that Stanton rejected the Giants. Just when I was happy the Giants were serious about paying real money for legit talent...nope...back on the cheap we go. More Spans and Aokis and McGehees.
Lovely.
We might as well rename the Giants the SF Rivercats next year. It's time for an organization wide shake up. I'm disgusted. It took less than 3 years to destroy a dynasty, with no positive signs in sight.

Even though the beat writers are echoing your comments about how much they’ll spend with Stanton out of the picture, I’m not sure that will be the case. The only way they don’t spend is if they decide to go into rebuilding mode, and they have made it clear on numerous occasions they won’t do that.

The reason why they were willing to spend the money on Stanton is because people will go to the ballpark to see him hit homeruns, people won't go to the ballpark to see Jay Bruce strikeout.

I share Randy's fear here, boagie.
You're right about Stanton. HE alone would bring them into the park as Bonds did.
But will Evans and company actually go out and GET the players we need?
I'm not sure they will.
Talk is one thing.
Action? Well, that's another.

One thing I think you may be overlooking, Randy, is that the Giants were at best a mini-dynasty. For example, do you think the Warriors could become the 2nd-worst team in basketball in three seasons? They're a true dynasty.
Not that the Giants weren't successful in the postseason. They certainly were -- three more times than in my previous time of being a Giants fan. But I believe they even won their division only in 2012. If they were a dynasty, both the in between seasons and what has happened since 2014 shows they were a very fragile one.
As for renaming the Giants the Sacramento River Cats, you've got to be joking. As lousy as the Giants were last season, they were close to the Astros than they were to the River Cats. Part of the reason they were so bad is that they had to play several players who were still at the River Cats' level.
The Giants were the 2nd-worst team in the majors. The River Cats were the 3rd-worst team in the Pacific Coast League. Notice any difference?
