Even if you want to give Bobby Evans a pass, the fact remains our team went from a Dynasty to a laughing stock under his watch. It's painfully obvious now that our beloved franchise needs to continue to lose at a hideous clip for many years in order to rebuild the roster to championship level...and we must not miss with those high draft picks. My faith in Evans to get the job done is beneath nil. I'm not looking forward to the next few years.

That's a good point, Randy, and I, for one, will NOT go to that 'fall back' position of 'we are an old team.'
We aren't an old team.
We had a team on which virtually EVERYONE had an off year.
That can't, and shouldn't happen, again.
My heavens, the odds of that happening in the first place were astronomical!
as to the next few years, I've been posting for weeks now that IF we don't make some massively positive changes, we're screwed for the next 3 to 5 years.
And based upon Evan's history, and the players he's NOW pursuing (Jay Bruce, for example)... I'm not optimistic.

We aren't an old team.
Rog -- In 2017 the Giants were the 5th-oldest team in the major leagues.

I don't think Evans' moves have been particularly good or bad since he took over. He's been limited by the same thing the Giants are limited by now -- a lack of top prospects to trade, and a lack of budget to add players.
I didn't like the addition of Span, and at the time I didn't like adding Samardzija, but while Span's defense has rendered him merely a second-division starting player (or a platoon player, really), Cueto and Samardzija haven't been bad.
The proof with the last two will be how well Cueto rebounds from injury and how well Samardzija avoids the gopher ball in the future.
Evans also faces, of course, the disadvantage when trying to sign (or in the case of Stanton, trade for) hitters.
The Giants weren't bad until 2017, and as Boly pointed out, most of the players were either injured and not available or played poorly.
So which players would you guys who are complaining be trying to sign or trade for? And if involves a trade, whom would you be willing to give up?
Let's take Ozuna for instance. I think virtually all of us would like the Giants to trade for him, but he is in high demand. As a 27-year-old who hit .312 with 37 homers and is a very good outfielder, he'll command a lot in trade. As an example, it is highly unlikely the Giants couldn't trade Panik straight up for Ozuna, and we don't really want the Giants to trade Joe anyway.
The Marlins were trading Stanton primarily to get rid of his salary. Marcell made $3.5 million last season and is likely in line for something like twice that this year. A low salary for a player of his accomplishment. The Giants would almost certainly have to give up more for Ozuna than they would have given up for Stanton.
So whom should the Giants acquire? Whom should they trade for? Whom should they trade in order to keep salary down? (They're already effectively at the luxury tax threshold.) They were willing to go heavily into the luxury tax area if they could pick up a special player such as Stanton, but they have stated we shouldn't assume they will do so in order to acquire the players who are available now.)
The Giants are in a pickle. Specifically how do you think they should get out of it?
