If the Giants got Stanton, making the playoffs would have been a lot more probable than by getting one of these grovellers.

Rog -- You don't know what the heck you're talking about, Randy. You might be the only person in the world who believes that. Except for Casey and his two brothers, of course.

hey I hope like heck they prove me wrong...I just have seen it way too often Rog -- Looking at the Dodgers' roster, I can't find a single top free agent that they have signed, despite their spending much more money than any other team. The Giants' signings have been limited by the amount of money in the salary budget (even though it has been one of the highest). If the Giants have been guilty of spending too much in the wrong area, it has likely been to re-sign their own top players. But don't you think they did so in order to keep the chemistry most credit for their three World Series championships? Between the Giants and the Dodgers, the biggest free agent signing who is still on the team roster is Johnny Cueto. You should likely instead be focusing on the Giants' not being able to draft and develop nearly as well. That is the Achilles heel that is hurting them the most right now. And most of that was done under the leadership of Brian Sabean (whom I consider to be an overrated GM). What makes things even tougher is that the Dodgers still have much better prospects than the Giants. This allows them to both build from within and to make trades. I think the verdict is still out on Evans as GM. We'll have a much better idea in five years. His early results have been mixed thus far.
