Here are Bleacher Report's top 10 second basemen for 2017. They mentioned that there wasn't as much star power at the position as in 2016, when it was exceptionally strong. The crop is still pretty good though, as is illustrated by Joe Panik's being only #19, in part because they judged his defense to have declined.
10. Yolmer Sanchez -- ChiWS
9. Robinson Cano -- Sea
8. Dee Gordon -- Mia
7. Jed Lowrie -- Oak
6. Daniel Murphy -- Was
5. DJ LeMaieu -- Col
4. Whit Merrirield -- KC
3. Brian Dozier -- Min
2. Jonathan Schoop -- Bal
1. Jose Altuve -- Hou
When we've got a future Hall of Famer at #9, the list is pretty strong. Murphy at #6 is exceptionally strong as well. Schoop had a breakout season and is the brother of a former Giants farmhand.
