Matt can't and won't say it, but I will. Nice job, guys ruining Cain's day!
Well done.
Nice job, guys, not scoring him runs like you always don't do.
You had multiple chances, and that's all they ended up being; chances.
Matty deserved better. He really did.
Ya'all, including Dyson, should be ashamed of yourselves.

I don't really think Cain is bothered by it. He pitched superbly and I'm pretty sure the lack of support bothered him not at all. In a weird way it was almost fitting. The organization didn't insult him like Boagie wanted and the game turned out like a lot of Cain's career went. I believe Matt went into today simply hoping to pitch like he still can and that the fans that he performed for his entire career showed him much appreciation. Yes, I do believe these guys still get a kick out of the cheers even after many years. If I was there, Id have given him a standing O. I expect in the years to come he will be seen often at 3rd and King...giving back the love.
Cheers to the Horse.

I already explained my position on Cain starting, Randy. At first i was hesitant about him starting because he hasn't pitched an extended length much recently, but realized that was the best option for his sendoff.

The outting was a microcosm of his career, Randy, as you stated, and also of this season.
It likely didn't bother Cain, but to me, it was an insult to a career that never got the acclaim it deserved; it was an insult to the MAN that Matty was.
If you watched the pre game show, they had two tweets that summed things up pretty well.
He lost more than half off 55 starts in which he allowed 3 runs or less, posting an ERA of 2.19, if my memory is correct, and of 38 other games, he lost 37 under similar circumstances.
Now some of those stats may over lap, but the reality is this; he EASILY could and should have had 10 to 20 more wins.
And you misquoted boagie, Randy. Boagie didn't want Matt to do poorly, he just feared that he would and he didn't want the man's last game to be, for lack of a better word, tragic.
And in the end, it was, though the 'tragic' applied to the pathetic team effort and not to Cain's outting.
And watching the hugs in the dug out, I was moved to tears, also, especially by the hugs of Righetti, and then Bum.
Man...

Bruce implied before the game that they hoped Matt would pitch a game such as he wound up doing, but weren't going to let him embarrass himself. Fortunately for Bruce, he wasn't faced with a difficult decision.

And you could tell that Bruce was extremely happy with how the start turned out for Matt. In a very disappointing season, Matt's final performance was a bright spot that stands out.

I think Randy hit the nail on the head when he said Matt's day couldn't have been ruined. Yesterday was about FAR more than winning or losing. Probably more than any day in recent memory.
When it comes to respect, few Giants have earned it more than Matt.

As for Dyson, he began the season horribly (leading to his release which enabled the Giants to sign him). And he is ending it on a sour note. Let's hope he is still that fine pitcher he showed in between.
