Maybe there is hope after all

Maybe the Giants can pull of a few more deals than I foresee.

The Phillies recently picked up Juan Nicasion on waivers, then flipped him for middle infield prospect Eliezer Alvarez.  Alvarez isn't a top prospect, but in the 22-year-old's only full season, he hit .323/.879 with 36 steals in 2016 in High A ball.

In theory at least, the Giants were one waiver spot away from being able to spin the deal themselves.

That is basically our only hope.

I just don't see Evans as the guy to pull it off
