I saw this one coming.
I really did.
Jeffy the Stubborn coming home...
Went just like I thought it would.
Fat fastballs, fat everything... BLAM!
As to the rest of the team, I wasn't impressed.
Not at all.
They showed conclusively, at least to me, what guessing gets you at the plate.
Shields wasn't throwing hard, but we just kept swing at pitches that were not strikes.
Many, not even close.
Or, the hitters were so far out in front it went not as the Byrds sang, "8 Miles High," but rather, 8 miles foul.
This game to me, was a microcosm of the entire season.
Crappy pitching, clueless hitting.
Against Shields.
That can't be allowed to happen.
Not against a guy who's given up as many gopher balls as he has and with an ERA as high as his.
What a joke.
What a freaking joke.
And I ask the question I've now asked a dozen times or more. What in the WORLD is Pence still doing in the line up?
Bochy, pull your head out of your fanny.
Look at the new guys.
Williamson should have been out there with Slater, not Pence.
Sheesh!
You're enough to piss off the freaking Pope, Bochy!

Bochy, pull your head out of your fanny. Look at the new guys. Rog -- As has been explained before, part of the problem is that the new guys aren't very good. What the Giants truly need is for Hunter to get really hot so that there might be a chance of trading him. You mentioned Mac Williamson. Are you talking about the guy who hit .244/.724 in AAA or the guy with the .221/.675 career major league average? Oh wait. They're the same guy. We have criticized Samardzija for throwing too many fastballs, but only Anderson's homer came with only fastballs being thrown to him. Abreu's home run came on a fastball, but after two curve balls. Sanchez's homer came on a slider. Garcia's came on a first-pitch cutter.
My point isn't that Jeff pitched or located well. My point is that our earlier criticism of Jeff for throwing too many fastballs didn't truly apply today.
Apparently Jeff can give up a homer on his other pitches too.

This is not the first time Jeff has gone back to the city of Chicago and gotten hammered.
Last year vs the Cubs in the playoffs.
He was pitching very well... until then.
Last night, same thing.
4-1 in his last 5 starts.
Then came Chicago.
Again.
This time he got hammered against a NOT very good White Sox team!
He cannot allow that to happen.
So I ask you; how come, all of a sudden, he gives up eleventeen HRs in a game, when in his previous 5 starts, he was giving up 0.56 HRs?
I think it's mental.
Period.
