A week and a half ago Pablo had his Giants average up to .281. He was still short on getting on base and hitting with power, but his start showed a little potential. The one fly in the ointment was that he wasn't hitting the ball hard as often, which had been his one saving grace with the Red Sox. Since then, he has gone a how-did-that-happen 1 for 33, and his Giants average has dipped below .200 (.196). He did hit the ball hard in his final at bat yesterday, so maybe that will start something. But as of right now, Pablo is badly failing his trial as the "new" third baseman.
Pablo is now 1 for 23 with the Giants batting right-handed after going 3 for 20 for Boston. Despite hitting left-handers at a .379/1.028 clip in his first full season, Pablo has become the ultimate platoon player.
Can we believe Randy badly wanted the Giants to re-sign Pablo when he was clearly a platoon player? Even worse, can we believe the Giants wanted to do so? Talk about spending tens of millions to keep the chemistry going.
Randy has said that a certain type of baseball fan doesn't get it and never will. I submit that he was merely showing false bravado to cover up the things he himself has consistently missed.
What I'd love to see is for him to come back to the board and prove me wrong. That's your challenge, Randy. Get rid of your stupid comment in your icon and show us you can come close to keeping up with the very type of person you sadly criticize.
Like Pablo, every now and then you show us something. Come back and do so on a consistent basis.
