Last season the Giants' largest weakness was arguably blown saves. They blew 40% of their save opportunities.
This season they added Mark Melancon, arguably baseball's best closer over the past four seasons. This season they have blown ... 40% of their save opportunities.
Looking only at the actual closers, Santiago Casilla blew 22% of his save opportunities. Melancon has blown 27%.
By the end of the season Casilla had ceded his closer position to Sergio Romo. Sergio blew ... 0% of his chances. (It should be noted that Romo didn't fare nearly as well in the postseason. )
