It becomes more apparent with every at bat: Jarret Parker looks lost.
And with that 'lost' feeling comes a loss of confidence.
He's carrying a heavy case of both.
My heart goes out to him, but the fact is this; he has to hit his way out of this because this is likely the last chance he'll get.
On the down side for him is that this has been going on for almost a month now, and the more he struggles, the worse he gets.
I can't believe that the coaches haven't told him to HOLD FREAKING STILL!
All that fidgeting, all those moving parts... THAT'S hard to keep in sync.
But far be it for me to tell him that, or even point that out.
If he is going to stay, he has to learn and adjust.
Right now, he's doing neither.

As you pointed out early in the spring, Jarrett did cut down on his pre-pitch movement, so we can be pretty sure Sir Hensley has been working on it with him. Not sure why he got away from it.
IMO the bottom line is the Giants need a left fielder. Expect them to have one by the trade deadline.

Thus far the Giants' five outfielders are 10 for 54 on the season. And that is even with Bruce Bochy doing some nice platooning. Pence and Span have 8 of the 10 hits, which is a positive if one considers the Giants should be acquiring a left fielder from the minors or via trade. How about if one or both of them becomes injured though? How about if Span is forced to play against southpaws? How about those times when Hunter goes into an extended slump?

For me, it's pretty clear that against RHP, Hernadez is more of a hindrance than a help.
I do not agree with you about Span, though.
Again, I'm not worried about him.
Ruggiano is beginning to look like a much better option out there.

Ruggiano might get a shot along the way, since he is a better hitter than Hernandez and a better fielder than Marrero. Justin could certainly platoon in left field, and I'm hoping his fielding is good enough to do so in center.
I really like Gorkys' fielding. I'd like to be able to keep him around. But he has yet to show he can hit in the majors. Boagie had a good idea in Austin Slater, and Stephen Duggar down the line. When it comes to left field, I'm sure we're not forgetting Mac Williamson.
The Giants should and almost certainly will examine their internal outfield options prior to the trade deadline. Ruggiano might be at the top of the list.

Hernandez is exactly what I said he was when he came up last year. An absolute waste of time with the bat.
Last season was a fluke.
We are seeing what he's always been.
Clueless at the plate.

Are you saying that Parker has lost that lovin' feeling?

Actually, as a Righteous Brothers fan, I wouldn't insult them by linking them to Parker stinking up 2 states! boly

The whole approach to LF beginning in the offseason has been awful. I don't like platooning with young players that have yet to prove themselves. The Giants needed to acquire a proven veteran and now they will be in a bind and probably they will need to give up a ton at the trade deadline to fix it

I'd like to remind you that Duvall and Marrero are the same age.
I'm confused, you get upset at the Giants for giving up on younger players but unless that young player has already proven himself you always want the veteran. Its like you want the young player to prove himself without getting the chance to prove himself..

I've always been consistent. If you're going to give a young player a chance, you've got to give him an honest chance...no platooning and constant AAA shuttling. Like everyone else, there are prospects we covet more than others. My point on the offseason is the Giants' strategy was to go with Parker or Mac until the trade deadline, which makes no sense since it costs more in trade to do that.

And now with the signing of Melvin Upton off the scrap heap, the Giants have admitted their strategy SUCKED.

The Giants had enough money to fill the closer spot -- and that was about all there was in the budget. They made some low-price signing that may help, with Nick Hundley being the best. Their hope was that either Jarrett Parker or Mac Williamson could handle left field. Perhaps when Williamson gets healthy, they will be able to do so. The Giants are hoping for an internal option, now including Drew Stubbs I think and Melvin Upton for sure.
The concern about the outfield was a bit muted here this winter, but it certainly existed and still exists. I doubt the Giants will panic, but one can rest assured they are exploring options. Regarding deadline trades, it is usually cheaper to wait for the deadline than to make a trade earlier.
We would have loved the Giants to sign an outfielder this winter, and in fact the price for one-dimensional sluggers was cheap on the free agent market. But the Giants took the available money and addressed problem #1 -- a closer. And they did a nice job of doing so, briefly making Mark Melancon the highest paid reliever in history. As we stand, he is still the 3rd-highest paid reliever ever, which might give a little pause to those who call the Giants cheap.
It would be nice if the Giants began winning games, and they most certainly will. This is frustrating, but the season is hardly over after six games -- even with a tie of the worst six-game start in SF history. Patience.
