I just read that Gregor signed a minor league deal with Arizona.
It was time for Gregor to move on, of that I truly believe, and though there were soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo man times he absolutely exasperated me, frustrated me, drove me completely cookie-boo, he was, in the words of Kruk and Kuip, "a great Giant."
He truly was.
Never a super star, heck, never even a starter except in emergencies, he simply went out and played.
Kept his mouth shut, waited for his time, and played his fanny off.
Yes I will miss him, that's for sure, but I'm not sad he's moved on because I think his best days are behind him.

I will miss him too, Boly. But I think he could still be a viable bench player. I'm disappointed the Giants failed to offer him a minor league deal like the Diamondbacks did. Our outfield depth is our weakness, and Blanco has been our savior in that area.
As we've talked about, Span will get his chance again this season, but I'm not very optimistic, they need a decent plan B if we see more of the same this season from Span. I'm not sure Ruggiano is that plan B.

Gregor did many important things for the Giants over his career. In the end, he was somewhat duplicative with Denard Span. Because he bats right-handed, Justin Ruggiano may be a better complement to Denard than Gregor would have been. It's possible too that the Giants offered Gregor a minor league contract, but that he wanted a fresh start.

Three things I will remember about Gregor.
His versatility.
The amazing catch he made to preserve Matt Cains' perfect game. I'm not sure they were half a dozen right fielders in the game who would have made that catch. There may well have been NO others.
How softly he held the bat.
