One last quick note before I go to work. Yesterday the MLB Network announced its top 10 third basemen right now, and no fewer than five likely Hall of Famers made the top six. Josh Donaldson was #1, followed by Kris Bryant, Manny Machado and Nolan Arenado. That darn Dodger Justin Turner (The Giants should have signed him.) was #5, and closing in on the magical 3000 hit mark, Adrian Beltre was #6.
Turner won't make the Hall, but the other five have a shot. The Giants' Eduardo Nunez didn't even make honorable mention at the position the network indicated may be the deepest in the game.
They also announced the top second baseman. Joe Panik had made #3 (!) last season (no East Coast bias there), but didn't even make the honorable mention list this year at another position the network considered to be very deep. Jose Altuve and Robby -- two more likely Hall of Famers -- ranked #1 and #2.
Next: Thoughts on where Mark Trumbo should land. But after work or perhaps even tomorrow.
