Speaking of drafts, the Giants have built their three World Championships primarily from the 2006, 2007 and 2008 drafts. Tim Lincecum went #10 in 2006. Madison Bumgarner was #10 in 2007, and Buster Posey was #5 in 2008. How do those guys rank compared to the other guys in front of them?
Lincecum went 10th in 2006, and he probably ranks #3 behind Clayton Kershaw and Evan Longoria. Bumgarner was also a #10 pick, and he is probably #1 (although some would argue for David Price). Buster was #5, and he easily ranks #1. Number three best followed by the two best in each of the next two drafts? That's how you build World Champions. I'm not sure any team has ever done that well with three consecutive drafts.
That's two Cy Youngs, an MVP and and a World Series MVP -- and three World Championships!
