The 2006 MLB entry draft was pitcher-heavy at the top. Eight of the first 11 picks were pitchers.
Even though the first four were duds ( #1 Luke Hochever, #2 Greg Reynolds, #4 Brad Lincoln, and #5 Brandon Morrow ), the next four were studs (#6 Andrew Miller, #7 Clayton Kershaw, #10 Tim Lincecum and #11 Max Scherzer). Miller was arguably the best pitcher this past postseason, even though he wasn't even a closer, and the other three have won a combined seven Cy Young Awards. Kershaw leads with three, and Scherzer and Lincecum have two each.
In the 10 full seasons since these pitchers were drafted, there have been 20 Cy Young Awards. Beginning with Lincecum's first award in 2008, the draft class of 2006 has won seven of the 20.
I'm far from certain about this, but I'd guess there is no other draft class from which its first 11 picks have won seven Cy Young Awards (and counting). These guys have won 6 of the 10 NL Cy's during that time. Scherzer won his first Cy as an America Leaguer.
