I thought I'd check in to see what everyone thought of our first fantasy season. Personally, I really enjoyed myself tremendously, in this and the other leagues I played in. I hope everyone else did as well. I know Mark did well in his leagues, especially in his money league.
I hope we'll be back next year, and I have one suggestion for our format. ESPN allows us to go beyond the 12 weekly starters as long as we haven't used more than 11 by Saturday. I hope we could make a gentlemen's agreement that we would each use no more than a dozen even as the rules allow more. That would take away the luck factor of having a lot of starters scheduled to go on Sunday compared to the opponents who wouldn't have more.
Other than that, I have no suggestions on improving the format.
I know I was lucky enough to win the championship, but I'd like us to congratulate Mordy, who won the regular season and might well have won the playoffs if not for some unexpected developments. I'm really glad to have made contact with Mordy again. He sent me several really nice e-mails over the course of the season, being highly congratulatory when it was appropriate and being extremely positive and friendly throughout.
Congrats also to Mark and his son Bryan, who also had fabulous seasons. Darn that Bryan. He was able to draft Clayton Kershaw in both the leagues we both played in. I felt bad for him that Clayton was injured (as well as for myself in another league where I paid a ton to trade for Clayton!), but he was wise enough to capitalize on the advantage Kershaw provides when he's healthy when most others would have instead drafted more highly-rated players.
Boagie, you were a great guy to put this league together for us. You really were. I'd also like to thank the friends who helped us fill out the league and make it more exciting. You guys didn't have the connection the present and former guys on the Giants board have, yet you helped out and competed with those of us who are on the board. You competed well.
Here's to a great winter for all of us, an even better off season for the Giants, and to doing it all over again next year!
