Gordon Beckham?
Seriously?
That's our big move?
I guess Nunez Hamstring is worse than everyone figured, and we need back up infield help.
What's that song by Queen? "Another one bites the dust! And another one gone and another one gone, another one bites the dust."
I know one thing for SURE!
I do NOT want to see ANY MORE of Adrianza starting in the infield.
No thank you!
Against RHP, I'd rather Kelby or Gillaspie at 3B.
Tomlinson deserves to play more, too.
On the Murph and what's his name show in the morning, someone who listens told me that they mentioned that Panik is STILL having trouble tracking the ball.
IF that's true... IF that's TRUE, that would explain at lot!
Thing is, for a while, he was squaring up the ball nicely... and hammering the ball right at people.
Just one more inexplicable point to our 2016 Nightmare.
How nice for us.

Rog -- Whom would we suggest? Players who are traded this time of year need to have cleared revocable waivers, so it can be difficult to acquirer a player of substance. That said, let's analyze the deal.
First, why was Beckham acquired? To provide experienced infield, a role that gained in importance with the hamstring injury to Eduardo Nunez. The only Giant with considerable experience at third base is now Conor Gillespie, a left-hand hitting platoon player who is a poor fielder.
So, what would a team want to complement Gillaspie? A good-fielding right-handed hitter who like Gillaspie can be a utilityman. Beckham fits that bill reasonably well. He's only a career .694 OPSman, but he can play four, five and even a little six. He bats right-handed and is a decent runner, should that skill be needed.
Beckham has been a bit of a disappointment, but he was enough a prospect back in the 2008 (Buster Posey) draft that he was chosen eighth. He and Buster are acquainted enough that I have seen the two of them talking comfortably. There were two Beckhams drafted that year. Tim was the #1 overall pick and has played just 151 major league games. Clearly he was a far bigger disappointment than Gordon. Posey was drafted in between the two Beckhams at #5 overall.
So what did the Giants give up? Rich Rodriguez, who has the name of a former Giants reliever but has been a career utility man thus far in his career. He's 23, so it's possible he has some upside, but he hit just .182 at San Jose this year.
And it didn't make sense to give up much for Beckham, who is eligible for free agency this winter.
What does the deal look like overall? The Giants gave up a minor league roster filler to get a week from a veteran who reasonably fit their needs with the question marks surrounding Nunez. He's not a difference-maker, but when you're battling for a Wild Card spot, even a small contribution could make the difference between being on TV and watching it.
The Giants gave up almost nothing for a week of a player who helps plug a hole that developed with almost no time to fix it. Nothing approaching an earth-shattering deal, but the type of low-cost deal a shrewd front office makes in time of emergency.
Not the time to break out the champagne, but a quick beer out of the can might be appropriate.

Boly- Tomlinson deserves to play more, too.
Boagie- I've disagreed with a lot of what you've said recently, Boly, and just when I think you've hit rock bottom...
You TOTALLY redeem yourself!
Over the past few weeks I've thought the same exact thing. It seems like late in the game when the Giants need that big hit, Tomlinson comes off the bench and more times than not has come through. Why not start him and give him more cracks at getting that big hit?

The problem with Kelby is... where to play him.
He's simply an OK 2Bman... and below average elsewhere.
But that doesn't change the fact that the kid can hit!
and he isn't shaken by the pressure of the moment.

Beckham was a 1st round pick just a few years ago. It was a low cost, low risk move just for insurance. Why are we getting all bunged up over this?

I'm not.
I was thinking the same thing as you; it's an insurance move because Nunez is banged up.
and I said so in my original post.
