There are going to be a LOT of defining moments in the last 16 games, but right now, IMHO, tonight is big!
A win tonight and we win the series, and basically put the 2nd nail in the Cardinal coffin.
The Mets have a RIDICULOUSLY easy schedule the next 9 games or so... and with their starting staff, including the Pillsbury Dough-boy, Fatso-Colon, I don't see them losing many of these next 9.
We, on the other hand, have a much harder schedule; St. Louis and then LA.
IMHO? to honestly have a chance? We HAVE to sweep the series.
Have to.
Because considering who NY is playing, they are likely to win 8 of their next 9, and we won't.

Rog -- Splitting the next two would still give a two-game series win and force the Cardinals to outplay the Giants by four games over the last 12 to beat the Giants out of the Wild Card. Even if the Giants lose the next two, the Cardinals will still have to outplay them by two games. Nothing is close to being assured, but the Giants have the hammer. Splitting doesn't really help that much, Rog.
Yeah, we could still get in... but that's cutting things too close.
Also, if the BEST we can do is split? That's not saying much about us, considering the Cardinal's hitting woes and all.
We have the hammer, but do we have the fortitude to use it and use it properly?

I find strength of schedule is overrated in September. The have-nots play loose with nothing to lose and often have their best record in September. The September callups makes them deeper too.
