Not that the 90% of the Giants' games this season that have already gone by weren't important, but now things get really serious. The Giants have 16 games left (10% of the schedule), and 10 of those games are against the Cardinals (4) and Dodgers (6).
We were in ignorant bliss the first half of the season, and have been squealing like stuck pigs this second half. Now is the time we begin finding out where on the spectrum the Giants truly lie.
The way the Giants' rotation is set up now, Cueto would pitch four games the rest of the way, with the rest of the rotation starting three games each. Or the Giants could skip Suarez once and give a fourth game to Moore. It would be even nicer if Bumgarner were in line for a fourth start, but the rotation is setup pretty nicely. Two of Bumgarner's starts will come against the Dodgers.
The Giants certainly haven't performed as well as we'd hoped and certainly aren't doing so now. But the situation is set up for them. If they are truly a good team, they simply need to show it over the next month and a half -- as they have done three times before.

Roger, it's all moot if we CONTINUE to flounder against kid pitchers with breaking balls, and ERAs at or above 5.00
Losing these last two games is just flat out inexcusable.
Bochy keeps telling us that 'these guys know how to win under pressure..." but this year, it's just rhetoric, and nothing more.
I'm NOT a Pagan fan, but HE has been focused... incredibly focused these last 20+ games.
As focused as I've EVER seen him!
And I admire what he's done! Don't want him back at age 35, but I admire his efforts.
How is it that we play focused, tough baseball against teams like the Cubs...but fall apart, or go to sleep, or can't play with intensity against the team we should, and really HAVE to beat; Colorado, San Diego and so forth.
Like I continue to say; This has been a nightmare from which I simply cannot awaken.

And most if not all will be forgotten if the Giants suddenly right the ship and win the World Series for the fourth time in seven years. Look at how quickly we have forgotten -- or at least under-emphasized -- the struggles of 2014. Read more: sfgiantsmessageboard.proboards.com/thread/3493/truly-stretch-run#ixzz4KQocIGgj

I'm NOT a Pagan fan, but HE has been focused... incredibly focused these last 20+ games. Rog -- I would ask this somewhat rhetorical question: Has Pagan played better because he's been more focused, or has he looked more focuses because he's played better? One could argue that Angel has been very hot since the 1st of August, or even the 27th of July. But during that period, he's hit about the same as he's hit on the entire season -- because he's been inconsistent. He had a stretch of seven games where he got only one hit. And isnce he doesn't walk much, he reached base only twice in those games. On July 27th, Pagan stood at .290/.333/.445/.768. As of this moment he is .276/.330/.422/.752. He's declined in each category. You mentioned the past 20 plus games. 20 games ago Angel stood at .298/.352/.438/.790. 21 games ago he was at .300/.353/.343/.796. One thing about Pagan though, with almost all his teammates struggling at the plate in the second half, he's had a good one. Rog -- I think that might argue toward a team's looking focused because they're winning. Even if the Giants felt they could mail it in because of their excellent first half (which I doubt), they almost certainly aren't felt that way for the last month or more. As hard as this losing is on us, think how hard it is on them. Read more: sfgiantsmessageboard.proboards.com/thread/3493/truly-stretch-run?page=1#ixzz4KQzBcJp1

We did it again last night:
Focused GOOD at bats vs Wainright...(sp?)
but crappy, Horse S _ _ _ at bats against 1/2 assed arms with ERAs in the 5.s
