1- I'm curious, Bruce just how many blown saves DOES your closer have to give up before you give him the heave ho?
What happened to your infamous, "closer by committee?"
2- I'm curious, Bruce... just how many GOD AWFUL at bats DOES you starting head case at 1B have before he's replaced?
Seriously!
3-How many rallies DOES he have to kill?
And at this point, with 25+ games to go, you have NO excuse for not replacing Belt with Gillaspie who at least will freakin' HIT THE BALL!
I mean, let's consider what you've done in the past:
1-You jerked Timmy from the rotation and put him in the pen for the post season
2-You jerked Casilla during the season in favor of Romo.
I mean, you KNOW it can be done... but you won't.
You managed a brilliant game, and it's not your fault we lost, AGAIN, by a bloop.
But it IS your fault for a line up that INCLUDED Brain Dead in the 5 hole.
It is YOUR FAULT that you didn't play Gillaspie at 1B
It is YOUR fault that you insist on staying with a closer who has more shaky moments than a speed freak coming off an extended high.
Your fault!
Now get off your stubborn ass and make the changes that will HELP this team!

I'm as annoyed as you are about Casilla, Boly, but really there aren't options available that haven't had their moments blowing leads this year. The problem is this team isn't giving the closer consistent work lately.

My problem with Casilla, Randy, is multifold.
One, the obvious, the blown saves.
Two, his hit and miss command.
When he's on, he's as good as anyone.
But he's not "on" that often. Or rather, "On" enough for me.
Personally, I'd rather go mix and match in the 9th right now.
We have the arms and personnel to pull it off.
Bochy just has to have the courage to do it.

Conor Gillaspie isn't the Giants' best first baseman. The guy has five starts at first base in his entire career. Read more: sfgiantsmessageboard.proboards.com/thread/3477/3-bruce#ixzz4JPl2YDHJ

You dance with who brung you. As of now, I don't think the Giants will make the playoffs. This year's edition gets knocked to the ground and stays there as opposed to the resilient championship teams. I'm as disappointed as you guys are, but if it's wait until next year, life goes on. Hopefully they'll fix what's wrong, although around here it's all Brandon Belt all the time.

Record-wise, the Giants have had three distinct parts to their season. They opened the season 17-18, which now seems the segment that while a little below, is closest to the team they truly are. Then they went a spectacular 40-15 until the All-Star break. We began to think they were better than they truly were. Since the break, they've gone a heartbreaking 16-31, and we likely think they're a worse team than they truly are.
The question, as Mark raised, is will they get up off the ground? They did so spectacularly in 2014, when after a great start, they were one of the worst teams in baseball for two months -- similar to this year. As of this moment, the Giants (73-64) are very close to their 75-62 record at the same stage of the 2014 season. The difference is that this year's team has lost four its last five, while the 2014 team had won six straight.
The 2014 team had fallen to the floor earlier and was beginning to get up. This year's team has fallen later and hasn't gotten up yet.
There is still time. Believe it or not, this year's team may still be slightly better than 2014.
In 2014, Jake Peavy saved the Giants. Their trade deadline acquisitions haven't done that this year. But those players -- and indeed the whole Giants team -- have 25 games left to prove their mettle.
It's time to put the pedal to the mettle.

I don't disagree, Mark.
But Belt is one of the biggest reasons we are NOT likely to make the playoffs.
Also, we're still in the regular season.
You dance with "who brung you" in the play offs, Not the regular season.

When the team's best hitter (according to the local stats geek) is barely ahead in HR and RBI of Joe Panik, who has played 30 fewer games (some of them with concussion symptoms), then he really isn't all that great...the team is simply inept.

I would add one more word to "inept," Randy.
snake bit.
No matter how well we play, no matter how well we pitch, something always happens.
In Chicago; We lose 3 of 4... 2 of them on bloops!
One, a great pitch, broken bat floink!
That's ridiculous.
I have never EVER seen a team have this bad of a streak for THIS long.
Never.

I have never EVER seen a team have this bad of a streak for THIS long. Never. Rog -- I'm like you, Boly, in that my memory isn't what it used to be -- or at least as good as I remember it to be. Or at least as good as ... well, I've forgotten what. But my memory is good enough that I can remember the Giants' going just 20-36 in 2014, which is pretty close to the 16-31 they were before today's victory -- and a full nine games longer. Never ever is a long time. A bit longer than two years. Read more: sfgiantsmessageboard.proboards.com/thread/3477/3-bruce#ixzz4JYUmeLgX

But Belt is one of the biggest reasons we are NOT likely to make the playoffs. Rog -- That almost certainly isn't the case. We can argue about how accurate Wins Above Replacement (WAR) is. Most who understand it think it is reasonably accurate. But even if we don't think it is all that accurate, Brandon ranks 5th on the team with 3.3 WAR. The next closest guy behind him is Jeff Samardzija with 1.7. If Brandon ranks that high in WAR, it's highly unlikely that he's one of the biggest reasons the Giants are not likely to make the playoffs (if that is indeed even the case). I don't think you're biased against Brandon as is clearly the case with Randy, but I don't think you're looking at the whole picture either. Could this be a case where you're putting too much emphasis on some of the pieces and not enough on the overall? Read more: sfgiantsmessageboard.proboards.com/thread/3477/3-bruce#ixzz4JYWUBosT
