I just took a look at Christian Arroyo's 2016 numbers and they are uglier than Hillary Clinton's trustworthiness ratings. He's hitting just 271 at Richmond with only 2 (TWO!!) HRs and 40 RBI.
On the other hand, Chris Shaw is looking good this year...which is good with Belt going back down the tubes.

I'm more disappointed with the .271 average, Randy, than the lack of power.
Christian is still very young, and he has time to develop.
Shaw is interesting.
I remember when he was drafted. As I recall, no one was really that high on him.
Then again, they've missed before.

Boagie- Pretty sure the Giants were, or he wouldn't have been drafted in the first round.

I recall Shaw being referred to as the best college power hitter in his draft class

I recall them liking his power, but, and I'm going deep into my memory banks here, I seem to recall their were questions about a loop in his swing... or that he had a long swing...some problem with his swing, but there were questions.
Then again, I'll bet there are questions about the vast majority of players they sign.
I know one thing, I'm now on the boat with Randy when it comes to Belt; his inconsistencies are being way too much to deal with.
The juice is no longer worth the squeeze when he goes into one of these funks because it takes him forever to right the ship.

Randy and Boly are both right here. The good and the bad. I think Shaw's fielding was also a concern.
Shaw was drafted #31 overall with the compensatory pick the Giants received when the Red Sox signed Pablo Sandoval.

Arroyo is .274/316/.373 in Richmond ..a place that averages follow the elephants into their graveyard....Shaw is .246/..309/.414 in the same team...Shaw has more homers, but Arroyo had 36 doubles..gap power is fine for a 20 year old with limited experience....both may be a ways away, but I think it is too early to give up on Arroyo...seeing his body in spring training looked to me that he has some maturing to do and needs to tone up....
