He got saved by replay but by all rights, Belt made a mental blunder that little leaguers make. Any moron knows you dont run right into a double play as a runner on first on a ball hit on the ground to the second baseman. Maybe he got dropped a lot as a child.

I was thinking the same thing, Randy.
Belt got LUCKY on that play, period!
Good call.
I thought I was the only one thinking that, because neither Krukow nor Kuiper said a thing.
Glad I wasn't

You aren't the guy to be calling someone a mental midget(not that anyone truly is). Question the mistake, sure. Try to assess whether Brandon simply didn't know what he should do or if he simply misjudged the situation, why not? But what point is there in calling someone a mental midget? If you're wrong, you're a fool. If you're right, you're simply a jerk. Either way, you don't come across looking a whole lot better than the guy you're criticizing. And he's taller and a better hitter!

Rog, I think Randy's point and mine is this: The play was in front of Brandon and he could see, or should have seen, it unfolding right before his eyes.
Baseball 101 says you DON'T run INTO a tag going from 1B to 2B.
Belt almost did... which tells ME that 1-He wasn't paying attention; 2-He completely lacks baseball instincts; 3-WASN'T thinking at all, just running; 4-Didn't know what to do.
Any of the choices is not good.
I expect professionals to know better, Rog; I expect them to have played enough baseball to KNOW what to do.

dk...it depends on where the play took place...and I didn't see it.....if it was closer to first than second, it is better to run into the tag and try to knock the ball out of the glove/hand....as the ball could go to first and back to second if the runner pulls up...and while we are at it, why not trade Belt for a starting pitcher, move Posey to first and call up Susac....

Not going to happen, Don.
I know you don't like Posey behind the plate but they've just paid Belt way too much money.
Also, trading a bat for an arm is never, IMHO, a smart idea.
Arms are way too fragile.
