I lost a LOT of respect for Matt Cain tonight. I can see MAYBE tweeking a hammy trying to beat out an infield single or the back end of a double play...but on a freakin pitch out of the windup?? I'm sorry that is pure flat out laziness and not being in shape. This is every bit as inexcusable as anything that Pablo did, or didn't do, conditioning-wise.

I can see that, depending on where you get the Chimis, but only in the offseason.

I'll respond to Randy as a former pitcher.
When a pitcher drives off of that back leg as hard as they do, it's more than possible to hurt that hamstring and hurt it badly.
Same thing hitting.
Today's hitters believe in the 'stiff front leg' concept.
I do not.
That puts incredible stress on that back hamstring. Incredible strain.
It's not a case of not being in shape, it's a case of no longer being as flexible as you were when you were in your 20's.

Happened to me, Rog, that's why I posted what I posted.
In my teens and 20's I NEVER got hurt.
But once I hit my 30's?
Man! Things I used to do, I couldn't
and the owies started coming

Thank you for the smart and well reasoned response Boly. As for Randy, the Pablo Sandoval apologist, seriously? Matt Cain out of shape? If you have a medical degree, please return it!
