And of course, (thank you, Time Warner... greedy bunch of jackasses!) I didn't get to see any of the game.

But I'll ask the obvious question, and in so doing, I know I'm not going to like the answer;

How does a guy who's never pitched above AA, in his FIRST EVER Major League start, throw 7.1 innings of no hit baseball?

I listened to Trevor Brown's description of how well the kid threw, but I'm sorry. He's NEVER pitched above AA!

How can that happen to a veteran team?



And I guess the second question is, how come that doesn't happen to our kids?

For the longest time I can remember, ALMOST EVERY kid we've thrown out there on his first start, gets lit up?

Okay. I'll shut up now, and be happy that we found a way to win.

The Giants have always struggled against pitchers they've seen very little of. The Giants also tend to struggle against sub par pitchers, while usually knocking around good pitchers, which tends to explain their success in the post-season.

Not taking anything away from the kid last night, but the only hitters he struck out were Matt Cain and Trevor Brown. The Giants were just unable to square anything up. He wasn't as dominant as his line suggested. But I felt horrible for the kid when he was taken out.

It wasn't his first start but Chris Heston's No No last year was a LOT more impressive. He actually closed the deal without walking a load of hitters.
