I have to admit it was NICE listening to the opposing teams announcers who were NOT asinine, over the top, homers.
The entire group of them continued to ACCURATELY and HONESTLY talk about the Giants.
They raved about Posey and Pence, of course, but they were singing the praises of Crawford and Panik and especially Duffy, too
They raved also about how our infield was entirely home grown.
The one question Aaron Boone had was about our depth, which he felt could not withstand injuries.
The lady with them, a big time Softball player, disagreed, as I did.
She brought up Parker, and Williamson and Arroyo, + some of our kid pitchers.
But the main reason I disagreed with Boone is this: In today's game, which team HAS great depth?
The answer, IMHO, is very, very few, if any.
No team can lose one of it's STARS and continue to be outstanding.
But it's my contention that we have pieces in place which won't make things a total disaster.
For example: Which team has a proven, very good, 4th outfielder like we do?
Or a double digit winning pitcher in the wings like we have in Heston?
Who has a closer waiting to happen like we have in Strickland?
That ain't too shabby. Not too shabby at all.

I watched it, they did a fairly decent job. Up until they got so enamored with the Trout, Harper conversation. If I didn't know any better, I'd have thought one or both were playing in the game. But this is the nature of the national mainstream media's love affair with hype, they'd rather discuss that, than educate their viewers about what they might not know about the two teams playing. The Cubs and Giants are considered two of the top teams in the NL, they had plenty of things to talk about without dumbing it down for their audience.
For instance they could have talked about what we've been talking about, the two infields and how they match up. They could talk about Duffy and Bryant and coming in 1st and 2nd in the RoY voting, also something we've discussed here.
For the fans who haven't been there they could talk about how that was the "hot" ticket of day because they have a lot of implants from Chicago and SF living in Arizona, and a lot of fans that travel. I'm sure that game was sold out. I've been to a number of Chicago spring games (White Sox and Cubs) you'd be amazed at how many Chicago license plates you see in the parking lot. Yup, they actually make that drive for games that "don't matter." That's devotion.

Actually, boagie, they talked a LOT about Duffy and Bryant, and Duffy's coming in 2nd.
They also talked about the infields.
Ours is better overall.
My opinion.
I turned it off before they got to the Harper/Trout stuff.
But the end of the 5th, I'd had enough.

I watched the latter part of the game on ESPN and I barely would have heard ANYTHING about the Giants had it not been for the stare down between Madbum and Heyward. That moron Aaron Boone says the Douchebacks will win the west so that shows his lack of respect for Boch and the boys. You would think it was Madden with the 3 rings and not Bochy listening to those bums.

Totally agree with you, Randy.
Totally agree.
The more I listened to Boone, the more I kept asking myself: "Who paid you off to say that stuff? What, are just stupid enough to think that ONE pitcher, Greinke, is THAT good to win it all for them?
They have a good team, yes, but it is NOT as deep as ours.
It simply isn't.
IMHO, we have a better infield, a better catcher, a better RF, and 5 better... no, make that 6 better starters than they do.
