Anyone catch that video of Arroyo making that long, running, sliding catch to seal up the AFL championship?
That was pretty darned impressive and tells ME that the kid is athletic, and likely CAN play anywhere we'd like him to play except CF.
From all that I've read, he's grown and improved each season since we signed him. We may have a player... IF we can find out where to play him.
And Mac Williamson's triple to RCF. Man! What great work with his hands!
Knob lead, flat bat head, and without a lot of effort, hammered that ball to RCF.
This guy deserves a long, LOOONG look next spring.
Anyone know why Jarret Parker wasn't in the AFL?

Boagie- The Giants would agree with you, which is why he was invited to the AFL. I would also agree. Williamson has a lot of pop, and if you missed it before, I had mentioned I heard him on KNBR in 2014 and he broke down the ballparks he'd played in, discussing the dimensions and the way the ball carries in each ballpark. He's smart and he does his homework.

Boagie- I think the Giants have seen what they needed to from Parker, hitting 3 homeruns in a game would suggest you're ready for the next level. I'm pretty sure he was there last Fall.

Not much hype around either player on a national level, but I think that would soon change if both platoon in LF next year for us. But, it's also likely Williamson will be in AAA for the first part of next season.

Rog -- The scouts say he would be best served playing second or third base. My guess would be third, and that either he or Matt Duffy will be traded. I could be wrong about that. Duffy can likely play the outfield if necessary. Maybe Arroyo, but I haven't seen any scouting report on that. Read more: sfgiantsmessageboard.proboards.com/thread/3135/arroyo#ixzz3sLUelfru

Anyone know why Jarret Parker wasn't in the AFL? Rog -- He played there two years ago. My scouting report upon seeing him was negative. I didn't know then that he struck out so much. Andrew Susac was also there, and my report was positive on him. Hey, it might turn out just the opposite of my projection, but that was what I saw then. You may have forgotten. This is the 2nd time a "trade" Duffy suggestion/thought has been made, and I say, why?
Arroyo is an unknown, and the Giant brass and coaches are saying this kid is likely to hit around 15 HRs in the near future.
I like Arroyo, but I simply haven't seen that much of him.
We've got some smart, smart, darn good hitters in Panik and Duffy. I'm not in favor of even considering moving either.
If Arroyo wants a crack at the show, learn to play the outfield as well as all the infield spots.
We'll see.

But for now, at least, Arroyo is considered a third baseman or second baseman. I'd hate to move Matt from third, but if Christian is a good fielder himself (which wouldn't be surprising, since he is moving from shortstop), I think Matt would make a very good outfielder. Anyway, Christian is likely a couple of years away. He has yet to play above High A San Jose. Read more: sfgiantsmessageboard.proboards.com/thread/3135/arroyo#ixzz3sNlAHafY

A Giant front office guy made a good point about Arroyo. He said not to worry about where he'll play, these things take care of themselves. Craw, Panik, and Duffy all came up at shortstop and they're all playing everyday in the majors and so will Arroyo. I saw a good line on Twitter last week. Baggs was mentioning that Juan Uribe is a free agent and maybe the Giants should sign him because "Matt Duffy can't play everyday can he?" Buried among the comments was one from Matt Duffy that said, "oh yes I can!" Gotta love the kid!
