When a pitcher finishes third in the Rookie of the Year voting with a 2.89 ERA, there is plenty of reason to be excited.
When he follows it up with a 3.33 ERA in 202 innings, there is still more.
But former Braves starter Tommy Hanson suffered a serious shoulder injury at age 24 and was out of the league by age 26.
At 29, he died yesterday in an Atlanta hospital.
"Reports are that Tommy Hanson had trouble breathing Sunday evening. He was admitted to the hospital where he slipped into a coma. He was transferred to Piedmont Hospital where he suffered “catastrophic organ failure.” Mere hours later at the age of 29, Tommy Hanson passed away ..."

That's sad. I remember when he was a young stud pitcher for the Braves then he just fizzled out. It's probably not the right time, but I still cant help but wonder if some sort of PEDs led to his untimely death.
