After years of being outbid by the Dodgers and other big-market teams for top international prospects, the Giants have made it clear they are now a major player in this space.
Just three months after landing Bahamian shortstop Lucius Fox, San Francisco has signed Cuban outfielder Eddy Julio Martinez. MLB.com's Jesse Sanchez was the first to report the news.

The 20-year-old -- ranked the No. 4 international prospect by MLB.com -- inked a minor-league deal paying him $2.5 million, according to Sanchez. Because the Giants have already exceeded their 2015-16 international bonus pool budget, the contract will cost them $5 million total.
The Dodgers, Cubs, Reds, Rangers and Astros were all rumored to be interested in Martinez, who has garnered comparisons to former Braves star Andruw Jones.

Rog -- I'm not sure, but the comparisons to Andruw Jones would seem to indicate he is.

Not a peep out of Randy for two days until it turns out to not be a done deal, then he's quick to respond.

In Randy's defense, Fox is only a 20-year-old, and his contract would indicate he's not the prospect Yoan Moncada is. But yeah, even if he were Moncada, Randy might well complain that he isn't a starting pitcher.
Stop looking at the Giants in from a hole in the ground and instead see them objectively. What have you got to lose besides your irrational stance of depression?

At least from my "hole in the ground" I watch the freakin games, rather than just the stats

Then teach me, oh master. I probably learn more about the game on a daily basis than anyone here, so I would welcome your teaching.
