So nice to see that Cain has worked out all of his problems.
30+ pitches and a run.
Sorry, but that's ridiculous.
Frickin' Corbin is coming back from Stinking Tommy John surgery, and HE'S come back just fine.
Cain had some bone chips removed and THAT is the best he can do?
Sorry, I say again, but that's frickin' ridiculous.

To be fair, Corbin had a lot more time completely off to recover. I can't be mad at Cain because complications came up in a situation where it rarely does. It's kind of like when Bonds had "minor" knee surgery but then infections kept holding up his return. I'm frustrated that Cain hasn't been healthy and sharp this season but there isn't really much that could have been done

I'm not angry at him at all, Randy, and I really can't be.
What I AM is confused.
Cain had all of the off season to heal, and then he had the last 5 months to work out his problems.
He hasn't, and that makes no sense at all.
His surgery wasn't major by any stretch of the imagination.
So what IS the problem?
I suspect it's more than one would think.
I suspect it's the number of innings on his arm because tired, aging arms can't consistantly find the right arm slot which leads to lots of location mistakes.
In other words, exactly what we're seeing.
And if Cain's career is over THIS early in his life, THAT is sad.
Same with Tim. To be as relatively young as they are, and to be done already...
So much for 'pampering' and 'babying' arms being the answer.
Sigh...

Just to clarify...Cain had a setback right before the start of the season. When he was declared healthy again, he had to try to start over from scratch, and he never could quite get there before he got hurt again. Frustrating yes but it's not like he's been healthy all year and unable to right himself. All we can do is hope he can somehow get well and then right in the offseason...we shall see how it goes.

Among other things, Randy, it's that 'set back' that concerns me.
I've been following guys who've had TJ surgery and I just can't remember guys who were declared 'healthy' having those kinds of set backs.
Again, this was a 'clean up' procedure, not heavy duty surgery.
But, as you say, we'll see how it goes.

Matt's surgery was considered less serious than Tommy John surgery, but since it was different, the Tommy John "rules" likely don't apply. I suspect too that each elbow can be slightly different in how it reacts.
Often times it takes two years to fully recover from elbow surgery (Tommy John or not), so hopefully next year will be figuratively a new season as well as literally.
