I think Krukow was right about Gearrin; he's seen the last of the minors for a while.
In that short outting, and based upon his history, this guy can pitch!
He'd be a great add next year.
Bochy-I just don't see it. I don't. Little movement on the fastball, high 80's... so so command.
Broadway-Right now, the guy is a thrower, NOT a pitcher. If he can do what Strickland did, gain command, another great addition. Until then...
Tomlinson-They'll use him as a Super Utility guy, and IF they teach him to play the OF, that's fine with me. He can hit.
Noonan-Now we see why he's been let go so often. Just a guy.
Parker-Who knows. Sure hit a bomb last night, but that makes one well hit ball. Just one.
Lollis-I kind of liked the kid. Maybe as a 5th outfielder
Perez-A different hitter this year. Seems more confident, but so far, not the answer from the right side off the bench
Osich-Has alread supplanted Lopez as the late inning Lefty. He's shown me poise, command, and stuff. Color me, impressed.
Adrianza-Bochy says he's a better hitter than he's shown. Really. Even his two hits last night were all arms. NO lower body what-so-ever. That concerns me a lot.
Leake- I want him back, BIG TIME. The guy can pitch! And with our defense? He's a perfect fit... A perfect fit by NOT instead of a guy like Zimmerman.
That's my take.

I got the same feeling about Brett Bochy, Boly...his stuff is just not there. I was happy for him, though...he nutted up after Bruce gave him the father son lecture..."don't make me look bad, boy!"
I agree more with Bochy about Adrianza...you're not wrong that he's a slap hitter but I think what he showed last night is he can get on base when he shows patience. He wont be a guy that hits double digits in dingers. And, once again, he's a backup. I'm having a hard time understanding why so many folks are laying so much on this kid's shoulders. Nobody is saying he is going to hit like Panik or Craw...he is what he is. A glove man who gives you versatility and speed.

My problem with him, Randy, was that he was hitting a weak .150ish...
That is not acceptable.
As a back up, I EXPECT him to be no less than .220
If he can do that, fine.
But his inability to put the ball in play OTHER THAN pop ups, tells me that he has some serious mechanical problems, not the least of which is that he hits with his arms only.

Brett Bochy is here for his last name and no other reason. He's already been DFA'd this year and nobody was interested and he'll be DFA'd again when they need to protect players before the Rule V draft. It's a nice nod to your HOF manager to bring him up at the end of the season, but he's not a major league pitcher.

Boagie- Couldn't agree more, Randy. As a 5th infielder used primarily as a defensive replacement, offense is just a cherry on top. As a number of roster spots are up in the air next season, the starting and backup infielders are set in stone, and that's a overwhelming strength for us.
I would also bring back Byrd for another season. I really like what I've seen from him. If we had him the whole season we'd be in a much more optimistic position in the standings now.

Totally agree about Byrd. He's been a pleasant surprise, and he's got the power to not be hurt by the dimensions of this ballpark.
