I was crucified last week when I called him Ehire oops-popped-it-up-again Adrianza, but I wasn't wrong then, and I'm not wrong now.
How many pop ups last night?
How many in the last 3 games?
And his INABILITY to turn the DP last night, COMBINED with that RIDICULOUS extra step-and-pump before he throws to first on a groundball, are driving ME, and I'm sure the Giant staff, cookie-boo.
He's a SS and has been a SS for a long, long time.
He knows better.
His one seeing eye base hit does not make up for his problems at the plate. Not even close.
Right now, we have no one else so he has to play, but I don't see how Bochy can keep him on the post season roster in lieu of Tomlinson.
Heck, Duffy could slide over and play SS if needed, and Tomlinson could play 3B in a pinch.
Either would be a better option of having to rely on Adrianza at the plate.
Adrianza, at this point, has had more than ample chances to prove he can hit at least .220.
But from where I sit, he's proven that he can't.
Just my opinion.

I only wish Bochy has to make a post season decision on Ehire because it means we're in the playoffs! I wouldn't worry though. Craw would be back and Panik would be back, and neither would be pulled for defense. They'll want Kelby's bat off the bench.

I can't really understand why this board seems to want to pile on to poor Ehire. I mean let's be real about this...the guy is only on the team because of injuries. He was DFAd earlier this year by the Giants which pretty much tells you what they think of him right there. The options in AAA are slim right now. If the FO didn't fuck up so bad in bringing in DP McGehee, it would be Duffy playing the utility role and we all would be ecstatic. They brought Ehire up before they brought up Tomlinson which also tells you that what they are getting from Kelby is a pretty shocking development even to the Giants. I've seen Adrianza play defense more than anyone here, I'd wager...and while he's not gold glove caliber, he is pretty solid with the glove. Even our All Star SS Crawford gave away a game by booting an easy DP grounder against the Braves. We need to ease off a bit on our expectations from Ehire.

We pile on him because he deserves to be piled upon, Randy.
It's that simple.
When a guy consistently hits .300 in the minors, and STRUGGLES to do more than pop the ball up... he has earned our wrath.
We expect better because he's a better player than that.
But I notice you never even addressed some of the dumb-assed things he does; like the other day, NOT running on strike 3
He pulls a stunt like that at least once every 3 or 4 games.
That's inexcuseable.
As I said in another thread; ya'all are different than me. You're much more forgiving and sympathetic.
When it comes to professionals, I have what I consider CAN'T DOS... and both Belt and Adrianza commit too many of them.

I'm forgiving and sympathetic when we're talking about a player who got DFAd and only is on the team because of injuries. I think you expect too much from Ehire. I don't because I realize what he is.

I wish I couild do that, Randy.
Problem is, he got DFA's because it was a numbers game, nothing more.
He has some talent other than popping the ball up.
I'd like to see some of it.

You accept him, Randy, but the Giants talked him up back in the day, so we all thought he was much better than this. Remember all the players they dumped because they were afraid to put him through waivers? He was projected to be much better than a fringe major leaguer who can't hit the ball out of the infield. We're all disappointed in him, except for you who apparently always knew he was a crappy ball hitter.

of course I'm disappointed that he didn't develop just like I'm disappointed that Gary Brown and others who never fulfilled their promise. But in general it is foolish to berate a DFAd player who is only playing due to injuries and a lack of better options. The anger is misplaced...we obviously should be mad at the Giants for not having backups that are able to live up to the same standards the starter is.

We're all disappointed in him, except for you who apparently always knew he was a crappy ball hitter. Rog -- I'll put myself out there with Randy on this one. I saw on TV Ehire take an at bat left-handed at San Jose in 2010 and was surprised to see how much of a slap hitter he was. Prior to that I was excited about him because he had been an emergency call up to Fresno from Low A and went 3 for 6 despite the huge jump in class. He's not as slappy as he once was, but clearly he's still not very good. Too bad. Good kid with a fine glove. Read more: sfgiantsmessageboard.proboards.com/thread/3014/adrianza?page=1#ixzz3kn8gLOS7

His glove is fine, but his technique for RELEASING THE BALL after the catch at SS? This kid needs some serious lessons on how to play the position at the ML level. And it's NOT a hop, skip, shuffle and throw, like he does 75% of the time. boly

He's got pop. Just ask Mike Krukow!! By the way, if you haven't seen the play Joe Panik made in a rehab game last night, go to the MLB.com site and check it out. It will remind you what we've been missing all this time.

I thought Joe's swing on his double down the right field line last night was close to perfect.
