In Miami our pitchers got rocked by a punchless Marlins offense missing Stanton. Now in DC our hitters are as effective as Obama's policies. Even vets like Pagan are making boneheaded rookie mistakes on the bases. About the only encouraging sign is Peavy's start. How many damn big losing streaks can we afford to endure in one season? I'm about to puke and I haven't even started the BBQ yet...sheesh.

Jordan Zimmerman vs. Ryan Vogelsong tonight virtually ensures a winless road trip. Hopeful we start to turn it around against the Mets on Monday. At least the only one of their outstanding young staff we'll see is DeGromm, although he may be the best of the bunch.

How many times do we need to say that when the Giants are going good, they're not as good as they look, and when they're bad, they're not as bad as they look? It's almost so tacit that the point doesn't even need to be made, yet there are those who still forget it time after time.

Every team is EXACTLY as good or as bad as they are playing IN THE MOMENT. Those that are streaky are inconsistent and are very much unreliable by definition.

I can't agree with you there, Randy. If the Cardinals and Rockies both go on a 4 game losing streak they aren't equally bad teams.
However, I do agree that the Giants need to be more consistent. They can't continue to go on extended losing streaks and be forgiven when they have a winning streak. They need to get above 10-15 games over .500 and stay there if they expect to be in contention for the post season.
