Most of you are not going to be happy, nor agree with this rant, but it is what it is. I see what I see.
Once again I am fed up and sick of hearing what a great hitter Buster Posey is.
I'm tired of the media hype.
I'm tired of the constant references to his rookie of the year, and MVP awards.
I'm tired of living on his reputation.
I'm tired of all the undeserved "Buster-Love."
All I see is a growing inability to drive in runs.
And if you don't see it, IMHO, you're not paying attention.
Time and time again last year, and this year, they've been out there, and he's killed the rally with some half assed ground ball that becomes a double play.
Crimenee! We had enough of that nonsense with McGehee. and now Buster has risen from the ashes to take his place.
Oh sure, he had that brief stint where he was back to what he once was... but that has evaporated, and what have AGAIN, is a guy off balance; a guy constantly trying to pull the ball; a guy once again failing repeatedly to drive in runs; a guy who has become what I accused him of being last year: 6-4-3 Posey.
His hot streaks are getting shorter and shorter.
Heck, they don't even bother walking him to pitch to hitters behind him in the line up!
Enough of the media hype of what he was, I see what he is, and I'm tired of it.

I was with you earlier about Buster but not now, Boly. He got off to a troubling start but his May numbers were very Buster-like. I agree his RBI totals and overall numbers are a bit low but I'm a lot more hopeful after what I saw in May. It's easy to pick on someone who's going through a rough patch. Before last night Kershaw had an ERA above 4...do you really believe he'll be there in September?

Thing is, Randy, in the last 4 or 5 games, he's gone back to being perpetually fooled again; off that back foot again.
And think back, in these last 4 or 5 games, how many balls:
1-Has he hit hard? (not that many)
2-Has he hit to RF/RCF with any authority at all? Not many.
What I saw last night... again, is what I saw in the early part of the year.
To ME... it looks like he's trying to yank everything, and also that he's not seeing the ball very well.
After a hot week or two, he shouldn't be slumping like this.
And those DP groundballs he's hitting AGAIN. This is what I ranted about last year.
Now that McGehee is gone, from my observation HE is the rally killer in the lineup.
For as talented as he his, he shouldn't be having this many extended bad patches.
And frankly, I'm sick of the Posey-Love the media gives him.
He's no longer worthy of it.

He wasn't trying to yank it when he drove two runs in on an opposite field double in the first against Burnett, that was just good hitting. And if Heston pitches like he usually does at AT&T, four runs is more than enough, and you probably don't rant against him. He also worked the count in his other at bats. Heard he was out taking early batting practice yesterday, so he knows he's struggling and working on it. I know it's tough when you see a truly great hitter like McCutcheon come in here and do what he's doing, but he and the Pirates are hot and Posey and the Giants are definitely not.

Mark. One good at bat, that's what Posey did yesterday.
And yeah, he worked the count, but my problem with him is not just that he isn't squaring up the ball. It's that, again, he looks off balance, and is AGAIN, often fooled, and often off his back foot.
this slump is occurring too soon after his last one.
And they are happening more and more frequently, with his hot spells becoming shorter and shorter.
There IS a problem, and no one seems to be willing to acknowledge it.

I'm surprised no one commented on Posey's catching...at the risk of the crap I'll take as to not liking Posey, my comments are that Posey's fielding was terrible...he started jumping up on balls in the dirt...he made a lazy reach for the wild pitch and loafed back for the ball as a run scored....he appeared to get Heston unwired when they had trouble agreeing on pitch selection....the thing that really upsets me is that he is rated so high as pitch framer, and yet, almost 99% of the pitches he frames are called balls ..it is still my opinion that he sets too far off the "black" ....

Don:
Recently I did make a comment on his sloppy ball handling. In one game, his foolish miscue with the ball allowed a runner in scoring position, who eventually scored.
But honestly, and I'm the only other one who said I didn't care for his defense, (for years I said that), he HAS improved his blocking skills this year.
It actually began in the post season last year
He's still not smooth.
He's awkward, frequently pulling up and off pitches with bad technique.
Yeah, he's better, but from my point of view, he has only progressed to 'adequate.'
Now when it comes to managing a game, and calling pitches, he's improved a LOT, IMHO.
He has to many holes back there to be considered an elite catcher.
Not even close.
