Too early to be concerned yet but so far Madison is giving up lots of hard hit balls. Lots of hittable location pitches.
Lincecum is giving up runs also but is striking out a lot of hitters. 7 Ks in 3 IP with only 1 BB. Got taken deep oppo by the BUM Will Myers today. Yeah Id definitely rather have Will than no pop Nori. Especially now with Pence out for a significant time

Randy -- the BUM Will Myers
Rog -- You're going to have to show us what makes Will a bum. You're talking about the guy who went into the 2013 season ranked as the #4 prospect in baseball and went out of it as the AL Rookie of the Year. Does that sound like a bum?

Actually it was you trying to convince us Myers was a bum when trying to make the Giants' acquisition of Aoki look better in comparison to the Padres getting Myers. I said then and maintain now that getting Myers would have been a lot better than getting Aoki because middle of the order, corner outfielders need pop. Myers' opposite field poke off of Timmy proves he still has plenty of it.

I can't imagine anyone wanting to have Aoki over Myers. There are two issues I have brought up with Myers' playing for San Diego, one of which I would worry about, and one about which I wouldn't worry. I expect Myers to bounce back from his horrible .222 average last season. He needs to make more contact and hit for more power than last season, but I think he'll bounce back most of the way to his fine rookie season. I have read some concern that his average last season wasn't very good BEFORE his injury, but I don't think it's a huge worry. What is a worry is that he is expected to play center field for the Padres. They have a big ballpark, and he's not a center fielder and doesn't have center fielder range. If Myers DOESN'T bounce back, then, yes, I'd rather have Aoki due to his glove. But I'm fairly confident Myers will bounce back. Perhaps not enough though to overcome what appears to be a very large fielding deficit as a center fielder. Here is what is weird: It is possible that Myers' bounce back level and Aoki's performance level will be such that Myers would be the preferred left fielder, but Aoki would be the preferred center fielder. I don't really know how strong Aoki himself would be as a center fielder, but I suspect he would be clearly better than Myers. I mentioned that Myers was rated the #4 prospect by Baseball America entering the 2013 season and that he went on to win the Rookie of the Year Award that season. That doesn't sound like a bum to me. What would you like me to do to improve my communications with you, Randy? Read more: sfgiantsmessageboard.proboards.com/thread/2746/madder-bum#ixzz3TpqsqUPV
