. Jon Lester is said to be visiting the Giants today. Chase Headley was also said to be visiting this week.
. Three of the top five free agents are represented by Scott Boras, which could slow things down.
. Alejandro De Aza of the Orioles is a potential non-tender candidate. De Aza is a lefty hitter who is considered to have above-average defense in the corner outfield slots and can even play center field.

geeze, talk about a reach...a career .700 OPS guy for a corner outfielder? Sounds like a Blanco clone. Then again the Giants are doing their usual odd numbered year fold up the tents thing so it wouldn't shock me if they went this route.

Rog -- I was merely pointing out a possibility, not recommending it. Above it, I mentioned Lester's coming in today, and I don't recommend signing him. I would be more intrigued by De Aza if he hit right-handed and would better complement Blanco. As for folding up their tents in odd-numbered years, they have spent a lot of money to retain their own free agents, which doesn't seem like a tent folding. This year they are being more aggressive in looking outside. I think weighing all the possibilities makes sense. Read more: sfgiantsmessageboard.proboards.com/thread/2606/quick-thoughts#ixzz3Kg8kvd1H

Dood - You mean like Pablo, Romo, Peavey, Vogey and Morse? Those FAs or some others I didn't notice?

Did you notice Aubrey Huff, Juan Uribe, Freddie Sanchez, Javier Lopez, Angel Pagan, Marco Scutaro and Jeremy Affeldt? They also spent quite a bit on retaining arbitration-eligible players. Rog -- Your words were "the Giants are doing their usual odd-numbered years folding up the tents thing." Was I wrong to interpret that as 2011, 2013 AND 2015? If so, I apologize.
