Okay. So our win wasn't loud... with a lot of hard hit balls and extra bases... but I really don't care.
What I DO care about is:
1-When they gave us an opening, we took it. Not all the time, but enough to score 3
2-We won. And how doesn't really matter
All that said, I think that from a hitting stand point, this team NEEDS to make a statement either in this game or the next, and by that I mean hitting the ball HARD, and hard a LOT, and scoring 7 or 8 runs.
Going to be hard to do, but it's doable.

The magic continues. If the Cardinals play proper defense and the balk is called, isn't the game 1-1? And the clean Giants' run scored on a bloop.
But you know what? I'll take it.
The magic continues. And it needs to continue for only seven more games.

Leave it to Mr. Killjoy "it's all luck" to spoil the party

To be fair, Rog isn't saying it's luck anymore. Now it's "magic."
The big question is..how do you quantify "magic"? And if you can't quantify magic, does it then not exist?
Is it magic × pitching ÷ hitting + fielding × luck = championship?
My head hurts.
Maybe next year we can get David Copperfield to play left field, he can make the statue of liberty appear in left field to throw off the opposing hitters.

I think you hit the elusive nature of what is going on right on the head, Boagie. It seems to be made up of many parts, all of which are adding up to wins. (Hopefully today too. Two out of threeat home would put the Giants in the driver's seat, although the Cardinals would no doubt still be pulling strongly on the seat belt. The Cardinals seem to have their own brand of magic.)
As for Randy, why do you feel the need to rain on our parade by trying to rain on mine?
Let me say, Randy, that is you would get off the personal stuff, not give up too quickly, and not cling on too long to players you believe are good but aren't yet showing it, you have long made some keen points here.

Fair enough Rog...if you would stop moralizing about other posters and overusing stats in your posts then you might be actually liked here...oh wait, that would mean you wouldn't post at all. Too bad.

I like you, Rog. Unfortunately, that and $2.50 gets you a ride on a dirty NYC subway train!

My parents used to tell me about being able to ride the subway -- which was likely cleaner and safer -- for a dime. The only time I can remember riding the subway was to Shea Stadium.
