I don't want to hear anything about how hot someone was in September. Edinson Volquez was great in September. So was Stephen Strasburg, Gio Gonzalez and Jordan Zimmerman. None of those guys could beat us. Vogelsong wasn't very good in September.
I don't want to hear any more about how guys didn't step up in September. I think we see now how little September really matters in terms of individual stats.

To be devil's advocate, we couldn't touch Jordan Zimmerman and the runs Gio Gonzalez gave up were unearned, so maybe they weren't the best examples. Jake Peavy was hot in September and he continued it in the playoffs. I think the point is more how hot you are doesn't matter on any one day. Neither does how great you are. Call the golf course and ask Clayton Kershaw if you don't believe me!
